      <description>This word is misused to mark the start of a quotation in speech, when there is no proper placement of the end of the quote.  The speaker should say: &quot;Ask your &quot;quote&quot; 'friend' &quot;unquote&quot; where your money went.&quot; But that might be overly redundant. </description>
