Aye, that's a fine method. I don't actually have a Miscellaneous list, though. The closest thing is my Favorites list, which is really a Guantanamo Bay-type, indefinite-detention facility for words I like but don't know what else to do with.

The only reason I'd seek to organize this list a bit more than it is, is for ease of finding the words again without having to wade through 500 words to do it. I was toying with the thought of organizing them by where they were encountered first or most recently (e.g. which book), but that seems less than useful as several of the books offered up fewer than a dozen word gems. Several Wordizens, I've noticed, have "Learned from Wordie" lists (alas, I do not), and several as well as myself have a "Learned on freerice.com" list. There are those words I learn at work, or from talking to other people, but for the most part those have fit onto either my "favorites" list or some other.

I may start a Disease and Conditions list, as you suggest, mollusque (though I don't anticipate that that particular reading jag will continue for long, so it doesn't seem like it will be continually added to). For the rest, I'm not sure there's a particularly unifying theme.

Oh well. Something will either come to me, or not.

I have some words on several lists as well c_b. My miscellaneous list is a holding pen until enough related words accumulate to transfer to a new list.

That's cool c_b. Serendipitous lists can be fun to explore.

Appreciate the suggestions, mollusque... Sadly, I do not subscribe to the notion that one's words should be listed in only one place. (The ones on other lists are there intentionally.) Though I agree that many can be transferred. *ponders*

Fortunately, c_b, you did not wait as long as yarb did before seeking help, so the situation is not yet augean. There is, however, a strong undercurrent of disease and malaise here which I suggest be quarantined. Among the remaining items, many are compound words interesting for concept rather than sound. These might be contained in a compound compound. Finally, as the majority of your vocabulary is surely derived from reading, this list will never be comprehensive, and instead represents words that do not yet fit elsewhere. Therefore pleosauri and several others can transferred to one of your other lists without compromising the integrity of this one. Indeed, a few such as chokedamp are already so positioned and need only be deleted here.

I'm gonna need to reorganize this list, eventually, and split it up. Right now it's just a catch-all and it's only going to get bigger. Any thoughts on the criteria for sortage?

I've been to Reading (the one in Pennsylvania, not England) a few times, but never encountered such, um, curious words!
