Actually, Bruce Springsteen's lyrics are: "Cut loose like a deuce..." not "Revved up like a deuce," "Wrapped up like a douche," or "Wrapped up like a doosh." *snort* Manfred Man changed them up then screwed them up....

I remember that song! Written & sung by Bruce Springsteen, but the version that caught on--and the one that used that often-mangled phrase--was by Manfred Mann's Earth Band.

I think I finally figured out that it was "Revved up like a deuce" ("Cut loose like a deuce" in the original) decades later. :-)

My own guilty recollection is of SBS news reports while I was cooking dinner. From the loungeroom I'd hear this journalist's tagline wafting through to me: "Yes I'm an asshole, SBS news."
After hearing it a thousand times, and finding out that the reporter is of Serbian origin, I now know that it's Vesna Nazor.
