How can I access past pages or the full list in one database file? I'm analyzing the pages but I don't want to have to scrape HTML for the data, that's a pain in the butt!!!! Can I use the API? Please answer!

    Just wonderin'.

can you help me? As a comment on the word 'margar' you left the phrase I'm just translating (from a Zadie Smith's recent novel) Probably you know what it means - margar child? Any suggestion would be helpful.
    Thanks in advance

  • about 3 months ago, rolig said: Oops, but now, when I tried to fix a couple more list titles ("i~je~я~ich~jaz" and "pogovorno: Zoran Hočevar, Rožencvet") and then clicked on them, I get the "Not found" page.
  • about 3 months ago, rolig said: By the way, I see that the "č" appears correctly in the comment I just wrote here. And I was able to fix the title of my list "slovenščina" simply by retyping the "č". So I am feeling hopeful.
  • about 3 months ago, rolig said: Thanks for your comment, John. I'm impressed that things look as much like Wordie as they do. I am sure you will keep trying to work out all the bugs, including the apparent difficulties imposed by the Cyrillic alphabet and even certain characters in the Central European Latin alphabets (like "č"). It is amusing that Hindi and Chinese characters should appear in my "slovenščina" list. When I click on such words, I get the message, "Disallowed key characters in global data", which curiously points to the different meanings of the word global. Good luck with finding an effective bug spray.

I can comment on some lists, but not others. It tells me that I need to log in, and then I log in, and then it asks me to log in in an endless loop. Please help!

  • about 3 months ago, ruzuzu said: Humbling and, of course, endlessly fascinating.
  • about 3 months ago, ruzuzu said: Thanks for complimenting my "ize."

You're right about Wordies--they are very nice. The only problem I've had up to now is that I'll think I've come up with something witty or original, only to find that it was deftly added two years ago by someone brilliant. It's humbling.

For some reason people were getting pissy when I'd comment with my own version of a definition- which usually added more info anyway, and people kept getting upset. I was honestly considering leaving the site... but the call of words was too strong! So here I am. You've renewed my hope in decent wordies! lol

Sorry for the extra postings, my internet is still being picky.
