  • 14 days ago, TonyTam said: john works hard, and loves words
  • 14 days ago, rolig said: Oops, but now, when I tried to fix a couple more list titles ("i~je~я~ich~jaz" and "pogovorno: Zoran Hočevar, Rožencvet") and then clicked on them, I get the "Not found" page.
  • 14 days ago, rolig said: By the way, I see that the "č" appears correctly in the comment I just wrote here. And I was able to fix the title of my list "slovenščina" simply by retyping the "č". So I am feeling hopeful.
  • 14 days ago, rolig said: Thanks for your comment, John. I'm impressed that things look as much like Wordie as they do. I am sure you will keep trying to work out all the bugs, including the apparent difficulties imposed by the Cyrillic alphabet and even certain characters in the Central European Latin alphabets (like "č"). It is amusing that Hindi and Chinese characters should appear in my "slovenščina" list. When I click on such words, I get the message, "Disallowed key characters in global data", which curiously points to the different meanings of the word global. Good luck with finding an effective bug spray.

I can comment on some lists, but not others. It tells me that I need to log in, and then I log in, and then it asks me to log in in an endless loop. Please help!

    Thanks,

  • about 1 months ago, seanahan said: The scarier thing is to come up with something which I think is endlessly witty and rush to Wordie to post it, only to realize that I myself posted it two years ago. I don't look forward to my dotage.
  • about 1 months ago, ruzuzu said: Humbling and, of course, endlessly fascinating.
  • about 1 months ago, ruzuzu said: Thanks for complimenting my "ize."

You're right about Wordies--they are very nice. The only problem I've had up to now is that I'll think I've come up with something witty or original, only to find that it was deftly added two years ago by someone brilliant. It's humbling.

  • about 6 months ago, sionnach said: Oh yes. That thing sitting under the bridge there stinking up the neighborhood is definitely a troll.
  • about 6 months ago, yarb said: I call it trolling. Ho hum.
  • about 6 months ago, vanishedone said: John, what do the house rules say about thematic consistency like this? I'm not sure whether desum is trolling in search of a reaction or just deeply single-minded.
  • about 6 months ago, john said: Alandriadenisewalker, I have no record of ever having received an email from the account you used to register for Wordie. If you have any questions or comments concerning Wordie that you'd rather send to me directly rather than through the site, please do, my contact info is on the about page.

  • about 7 months ago, vanishedone said: Sorry this isn't a nice message, but: johntgraham is trolling. I'm guessing you'll want either to nuke the posts or to add them to the 'mentions' page.

  • about 8 months ago, brettfagan said: Sorry about the "SEO"; just describing what I do...
  • about 8 months ago, mechanolatry said: I want to thank you for your kind words. For some reason people were getting pissy when I'd comment with my own version of a definition- which usually added more info anyway, and people kept getting upset. I was honestly considering leaving the site... but the call of words was too strong! So here I am. You've renewed my hope in decent wordies! lol

Sorry for the extra postings, my internet is still being picky.
  • about 8 months ago, vanishedone said: If you're now saying you're back on the bike, dare I ask what happened to the horse...? Please tell me it's living out its retirement in a pasture somewhere, or something--
  • about 9 months ago, john said: I haven't posted to Errata in an embarrassingly long time, but not sure why the old posts aren't loading, will look into it. And someday I do plan to be a blogger again, I swear.
  • about 9 months ago, Prolagus said: John,
What happened to Errata? It's not even loading today.
  • about 10 months ago, Prolagus said: I sent him a message on facebook about that.
  • about 10 months ago, john said: That was a mistake on erich13's part, and s/he contacted me about it, but in my new incarnation as not very useful or responsive, I hadn't gotten to it yet. I'll try to today though.
  • about 10 months ago, vanishedone said: erich13 added a deluge of irrelevant tags to admire, addon, adobeair and about, apparently while still unsure how to use the site; I asked him/her about 3 days ago to remove them, but it hasn't happened. Since s/he appears not actually to want them there, and the clouds are so huge and unrelated to the words, could you possibly use your admin. powers to prune them away? (Failing that, could large tag clouds be made to default to a smaller base font size, or to displaying as hidden, or something?)
  • about 10 months ago, chained_bear said: I would so like to see a little teapot (or even a peatot) doing a pommel horse routine.

Be careful, John! I don't want you to fall and break while writing your blog!
  • about 10 months ago, reesetee said: Chained_bear, I'm sure John meant his pommel horse. That shouldn't take as long.
  • about 10 months ago, mollusque said: A virtual orphling . . .
  • about 10 months ago, chained_bear said: I don't know, John, horseback riding takes at least a few hours. You probably won't have time to deal with Errata if you're doing that this weekend instead.

    *little tiny joke*
  • about 10 months ago, john said: Poor sad Errata, feeling all neglected. I'll get back on the horse this weekend.
  • about 10 months ago, Prolagus said: You should at least install your errata autopilot.
  • about 10 months ago, reesetee said: Hey, give the guy a break. New baby, tough job....

But I too am jonesing for another Errata edition, I must admit. :-)
  • about 10 months ago, whichbe said: Don't you think it's about time for another update to Errata? The last one was nearly 3 months ago!
  • about 11 months ago, chained_bear said: BrainyBabe, don't worry, you're doing it right. For you and other Wordizens who are interested in a few helpful tips, you could see Pro's list, and the faq page.
