kamtsatka
I am a fifteen-year-old Finnish school girl. I love reading, singing, cycling and studying, and am very into languages. I think I'm going to became a linguist when I grow up. I also play the flute, and sing in the choir which always makes me very happy.

I adore chocolate, film scores, ryecrisp, Babylon 5, colours, snow, and sleeping.

I dislike (no, I don't hate anything, because you shouldn't ever hate anything, so I just dislike) Swedish turnips, Internet Explorer, mean people (i.e. most of my classmates), and snowless winter.

English is not my native language so don't wonder if I do some stupid errors. I also speak Finnish, as my native language, and some Swedish and French, because I study them at school.

  • about 1 year ago, frindley said: The frindley is a flute player too! (Although I should also admit that I haven't practised properly for a very long time. Sigh.)
  • about 1 year ago, kamtsatka said: Oh, frindley, I'm really proud of the musical life here. We have so many opportunities to take an interest in music. Personally I play the flute, sing in the choir and am in the music class (which means that we have more music lessons than the normal students).

And whichbe, I live in an apartment building (it's a very common thing in Finland) so I guess it's OK if you sleep in our backyard. You just have to watch out for the children of the neighbourhood, and the official authority if some neighbour calls the police because of some lurker in the backyard.

  • about 1 year ago, frindley said: In my world (Australian music scene) we are extremely envious of the thriving musical life that we witness in Finland. Lots of orchestras (relative to population), great music education from the youngest ages, and so on.

Welcome to Wordie! In some of my lists, I try to talk about my motherlands (Italy and Sardinia). I would love to read stories about Finnish culture, myths, oddities! Your country is very fascinating, and little known -- in Italy, at least.
  • about 1 year ago, frindley said: That's true (about us being interested). Valituskuoro caught my attention a few months back!
  • about 1 year ago, kamtsatka said: As you wish! =)

  • about 1 year ago, mollusque said: Hi Kamtsatka, welcome to Wordie! Thanks for your comments on Finnish words. Most of the ones I've listed I mined out of Wiktionary to fit various vowel patterns, but I don't know any Finnish. Any additions or corrections are welcome.
  • about 1 year ago, bilby said: If it's not already listed, could you please give me a Finnish miao here. Thanks.
  • about 1 year ago, bilby said: Welcome to Wordie. I suppose our custom is to answer to the other person's profile but it doesn't matter much. It's easier for others to follow if they can see the question and answer in the same place.
  • about 1 year ago, kamtsatka said: Yes, I am Finnish. (I'm not sure about the customs here, by the way, meaning I don't know if I should answer to your profile or to my profile...)
  • about 1 year ago, bilby said: Are you Finnish?
