I don't prefer the use of impact as a verb. "The beauty of nature impacted me." (Neither does Microsoft Word, as I have found when writing papers). Strunk and White oppose the easy conscription of nouns into service as verbs, as it weakens the language. Impactful, then, is worse: a bankrupt adjective allowing for passivity and ambiguity.
