  • noun IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standard using a type of cable called Thick Ethernet or RG-8 which is thick and yellow and has markings at every 2.5 meters, which designation means the following: (1) the cable transmission speed is 10 Mbps, (2) the transmission is in baseband, and (3) the length of the cable should be no more than 500 meters.
