  • Sihanouk, King Norodom Born 1922. Cambodian politician who led Cambodia to independence from France (1953) during his first rule as king (1941-1955) and later, although twice exiled, served as prime minister (1955-1957), head of state (1960-70 and 1975-76), and king (1993-2004).
