- n. A compound, CH3COCH2-COCH3, formed by the action of sodium on a mixture of acetone and ethyl acetate. It is a liquid which boils at 137° C. It forms salts which are probably derived from the tautomeric form, CH3COCH:C-(OH)CH3.
