  • A family of operculate pulmoniferous mollusks, represented by the European genus Acicula (which see) and the West Indian Geomelania.
  • They have very small turreted shells with few whorls and a thin operculum, the outer lip plain or produced into a tongue, and the eyes on the back of the head.
