  • In entomology, the frothbearing hoppers; a subfamily or other division of the great family Cercopidæ, represented by the genera Aphrophora, Lepyronia, Ptyelus, and many others, and containing a great many species of medium or small size, very generally distributed over the world, and especially affecting pines and willows.
