  • noun In petrography, the name proposed by Lacroix in 1901 for an ultra-basic igneous rock of granular texture, consisting principally of augite, hornblende, ilmenite, and magnetite, with some apatite, and titanite. It occurs in narrow dikes in lherzolite.
