1. n. A tree, Garcinia Cambogia, belonging to the family Clusiaceæ. It yields a gum resin which is inferior to gamboge on account of its insolubility in water. However, it is soluble in turpentine and may be used as a varnish. The acid rind of the fruit is dried by the natives of India and Ceylon and is used in curries. See Garcinia.
