- n. In the Roman Catholic and Anglican churches, a piece of silk, varying in color according to the ecclesiastical season, used, over the chalice-pall, to cover the paten and chalice at certain times during the celebration of the mass or holy communion.
- n. In the Anglican Church, a piece of linen or lawn used to cover the chalice and paten after the communion of the people.
