  • noun A notable genus of American fissi-rostral barbets or puff-birds, of the family Bucconidœ, similar to Monasa (which see), but with a short square tail, comparatively longer wings, and smaller, slenderer bill. There are two species, C. tenebrosa and C. brasiliensis, known as the smaller and the larger swallow-wing.
