1. n. A genus of extinct brachiopods characterized by its thin valves which unite at a long straight hinge-line. Along the upper edge of this line the ventral valve bears a row of spines which are the exterior continuation of tubes leading through the substance of the valve from the internal shell cavity. The genus abounds in paleozoic rocks.
