1. A group of spumellarians without a skeleton, or with a rudimentary one composed mainly of detached silicious spicules scattered outside the central capsule; a suborder proposed by Haeckel for the families Thalassicollidæ, Collozoidæ, Thalassosphæridæ, and Sphærozoidæ.
