  • noun In petrography, a name given by G. H. Williams (1886) to a coarsegrained rock composed of large crystals of hornblende with abundant inclusions of olivin and pyroxene which mottle the cleavage surfaces of the hornblendes and give the rock a poikilitic fabric: a variety of hornblende picrite.
