1. n. One of three compounds with the formula C₆H₄Cl₂, distinguished by the prefixes ortho-, meta-, para-. All are colorless; the first two are liquids, and the last is a crystalline solid melting at 53° C. and boiling at 172° C. The others boil at 179° C. and 172° C. respectively.
