I can't explain why this irks me so, and I'm honestly not trying to hurt anyone's feelings or ignite a debate on historiography. But I can't stand seeing movies (for example) in which every Confederate re-enactor is a whopping behemoth of a man, as if someone had coaxed him away from some giant fried-food buffet to star in a historical film--in which, incidentally and more often than not--women are not allowed to participate. Why, God, why?!
