- n. In forging, a large and massive beam-clamp for holding large work while it is being hammered to form a flange on its edge. It consists of two horizontal beams. The upper one is adjustable by means of screws; the lower one is rigid and is designed to hold formers over which the hot metal is bent to make the flange.
