  • Hey! This term just came up at work, and again I thought of yak-shaving. Goat rope was defined for me as: "akin to herding cats... chaotic with a small rate of success."

  • This term was used in my Idaho High School (1970's) to help classify the hierarchy of students. One was either a band geek (dumb sweaters), goat rope (cowboy boots and Skoal-ring worn in back pocket of jeans), jock, or greaser (drug culture). Each class had its own area of the parking lot staked out. Each pretty much avoided the other, except to fight.
