1. n. One of several species of Astronium, an anacardiaceous genus of large trees. The wood is fine-grained and suitable for building and other purposes.
2. n. A large tree of the family Cæsalpiniaceæ, Peltogyne confertiflora, which yields a useful wood and from the bark of which a fine red dye is obtained.
