- noun The methylene-dimethyl other of 2, 3, 4, 5-tetrahvdroxy-1-propen -1′ - ylbenzene, CH2:O2:C6H(OH)2CH:CHCH3. It is formed by heating apiol with sodium ethylate, and crystallizes in prisms which melt at 44° C.
