  • A subdivision of the ammonoid cephalopoda of the suborder Discocampyli. It comprises genera with compressed discoidal and involute shells. The primitive representatives have entire sutures with broad, rounded saddles and narrow lobes, while the more complicated have prolonged lateral suture-lines and an indefinite number of inflections of the saddles.
