1. n. A genus of freshwater rotifers, of the family Notommatidæ. The body is elongated and cylindrical, with a projecting tail, but not annulose, the corona is obliquely truncated, the head bears auricles, and the tropin are virgate. Also Notommata.

1. n. (Zoöl.) A peculiar genus of rotifers, remarkable for the absence of ciliated disks. By some zoölogists it is thought to be like the ancestral form of Arthropoda.
