- n. In ornithology: A genus of American tyrant-flycatchers, belonging to the family Tyrannidæ, and typical of the subfamily Platyrhynchinæ, having a very broad flat bill with long vibrissæ, whence the name. There are several species, of South and Central America, as P. mystaceus. Megarhynchus is a synonym.
- n. Same as Eurylæmus.
- n. In entomology, a genus of coleopterous insects.
- n. In herpetology, a genus of batrachians. Also Platyrhincus.
