1. n. A relief-valve; a pet-cock; a valve to permit the water of condensation to escape from an engine.
2. n. A valve which affords communication to the top of a pump so that water can be poured in to prime the pump, filling the clearances, displacing the air, and causing the valves to operate with certainty in starting.
