My home town didn't really have any symbols. The colours red and white were the closest things we had to heraldry because the local football team played in red and white uniforms and was nicknamed "The Bloods". My sister, in a fit of parochialism, made a giant red and white snake that we took to inter-school competitions and held aloft on the rare occasions our school won something. When she left school the snake was passed on to junior students. I don't know what happened to it.
