1. n. The cosmopolitan beetle, Calandra oryzæ, which feeds on rice and other stored grains in all parts of the world. It is an especial pest in the corn-cribs of the southern United States, and in the rice-granaries of India. See cut under Calandra.
2. n. Same as water-weevil.
