1. n. The common American brook-trout, Salvelinus fontinalis, as occurring in Lake Superior.
2. n. A chiroid fish of the genus Hexagrammus; especially, the boregat or bodieron, H. decagrammus, abundant on the North Pacific coast of North America, about 18 inches long. Also called sea-trout and starling. See cut under Hexagrammus.
