1. n. A lustrous golden orangered to reddish-brown compound, C₃₆H₂₂O₉(?), contained in the lichens Sticta aurata, Candelaria vitellina, C. concolor, and Gyalolechia aurea. It forms large crystals which melt at 211–212° C. and are probably monoclinic.
