Definitions
from The Century Dictionary.
- noun A term generally used in the same sense as ‘peroxid,’ signifying the presence of oxygen in more than normal proportion. Mendeléjeff has proposed to restrict the term ‘superoxid’ to compounds of the type of hydrogen dioxid, in which the oxygen atoms are assumed to be directly united to each other, thus distinguishing these from other peroxids.
