  • noun A trade-name of diethvlsulphone-diethylmethane, (C2H5SO2)2C(C2H5)2, prepared, in a similar manner to sulphonal, from diethylketone and ethylmercaptan. It crystallizes in lustrous plates or leaves, melts at 85° C., and is a more powerful hypnotic than sulphonal.
