1. n. A colorless compound, C₆H₅C:CC₆H₅, prepared by the action of alcoholic potassium hydroxid on stilbene chlorid or bromide. It crystallizes in large plates or rods, melts at 60° C, and may be distilled. Also called diphenyl-acetylene.
