- noun A colorless liquid ketone, C10H14O, contained in the essential oil of Californian laurel, Umbellularia Californica, which is also known as mountain-laurel, cajeput, spice-tree, California olive, California bay-tree, and sometimes pepperwood. It has a mint-like odor and a peculiar, characteristic pungency. It boils at 218° C.
