  • In heraldry, same as veruled.
  • noun A circlet or little hoop of iron put round the end of a cane, a knife-handle, and the like; a ferrule; hence, in heraldry, a hoop or ring; one of the rings surrounding a trumpet or horn. Some writers apply it especially to the funnel-shaped opening at the larger end.
