Century Dictionary and Cyclopedia
- n. In Oriental decorative art, a small vase, having one side fiat, and with a hole near the top by which it can be hung upon the wall. In some cases the form is that of half an ordinary vase having a surface of revolution; but sometimes the form is specially fitted to its purpose, irregular, or even fantastic, and may be suggested by a draped figure.
