Was there ever a consensus on what to call this decade? The naughties or the 2000s? Or will it simply become that-decade-whose-name-should-not-be-said?

Although I prefer "naughties," Wikipedia has dubbed it 2000s, so I guess that settles it.

I propose it be called "the aughties". A play on the homonyms (in many areas of the western US): "Ought" to have not married that person; "ought" to have sold my house when the selling was insane and banked the money; "ought" to have relegated my 401K to cash; "ought" to have... (you fill in the blank).
