Native American is a term that has fallen out of fashion. It used to refer to the first groups of people that inhabited North America but it never distinguished between the groups. Most people visualize a chief with a full feather headdress or a young man with war paint wielding a tomahawk. Here is a sentence: At our school the History teacher, who is neither American nor Canadian, has organized a "Native American Day" and I am duly shocked and appalled.
