#16 Grew up in Minnesota and knew exactly what you meant by Scandahoovian as I have used that term often – even in Mn!!
Yet, nearly all of the Swedish and Norwegian Americans I've known can't speak a word of Scandahoovian and show the same monolingual preference for English that Americans of English, British and Irish heritage do.
Being Scandahoovian, we celebrate on Christmas Eve.
Given that Rätoromanisch is still alive and more or less well in Switzerland, I wouldn’t be too quick to announce the impending death of the Scandahoovian and Dutch tongues.
