But if someone had told the Oh Yeah Well Prove It crowd two centuries ago that everything in the universe is composed of the same essential matter, and that that matter is pure energy, and that that energy is in a constant state of flux and vibration, they would have cried heresy -- yet the Shaivites of Kashmir posited this in exact detail over a thousand years ago.
Like Shaivites, this place has religious importance for Vaishnavites as well.
Shaivites do not believe in complete incarnations, though Shiva is within all of us.
