  • in logic: A cognition involving no notion which is not perfectly clear and distinct. A cognition at once precise and complete.
  • See definition. Synonyms Adequate, Sufficient, Enough, commensurate, competent. A thing is adequate to something else when it comes quite up to its level; yet neither may be sufficient when viewed in relation to some third thing. That which is sufficient may be adequate and more. Enough equals adequate, but is applied to a different class of subjects.
