A technique used in American old-time music where the fiddle is sometimes played by two people at the same time, with one player bowing and fingering, while a second player stands to the side and taps out a rhythm on the fiddle strings using two small-diameter sticks or dowels called fiddlesticks (also spelled "fiddle sticks").
