"There is an old belief that on St. John's Day, at midnight, the fern blooms, gleaming like a star, and it is supposed to bring good luck to anyone who sees it do so. Therefore the young folk shortly before midnight walk in the woods hopefully looking for that miracle - the blooming of the fern."
