• Noting an acid, a colorless compound, CH₃COCH. COCH: C(CH₃)OCO, prepared by the prolonged boiling of ethyl acetoacetate (acetoacetic ether). It crystallizes in rhombic needles or plates, melts at 108.5–109° C. and boils at 269.9° C.
