Kanye establishes confusing race dichotomy by implying Beyonce--the palest you can get short of Jelly Roll Morton--was robbed of the award because of blackness. it's not that B's internalized racism isn't proof of the injustice of the media, but she's bad evidence for a case like this, given that her stardom and pallor have increased exponentially over the last 10 years (also see Jessica Alba). in short, Beyonce is exactly pale (and consequently, beloved) enough to win awards among any number of white competitors--and has.

I just don't have enough grounding in American race politics to make sense of it. Nor do I know who Kanye is. Nor can I remember presently whether Beyonce - is that a real name? surely she's been punished enough - is black, white, red, yellow or brindle. Nor ... never mind. If I thought it was going to change my life I would have looked it up by now :-( But I'm sure your musing is valuable to those who are on the page.
