• In De Blainville's classification (1825), the third family of his Pulmobranchiata, distinguished from Auriculacea and Limnacea, and containing the genera Succinea, Bulimus, Achatina, Clausilia, Pupa, Helix, Testacella, Parmacella, Limacella, Limax, Onchidium, etc.
• Same as Limacea.
