- The Phasianidæ, exclusive of the Pavoninæ, Melcagrinæ, and Numidinæ, or still further restricted to forms resembling the genus Phasianus; the pheasants proper. Some authors compose the subfamily of five genera —Phasianus, Thaumalea, Euplocamus, Lobiophasis, and Ithaginis.
